Paia Studio is uniquely situated in a former public swimming pool, an abandoned space now transformed into a vibrant creative studio hosting a range of cultural activities. This year, SPACE21 has chosen Paia Studio as one of its new festival venues, recognising its distinctive atmosphere and creative potential. The venue’s striking blend of past and present—echoes of water and play now giving way to artistic exploration—offers a compelling backdrop for innovative cultural expression. For the festival, SPACE21 will present a live performance specially designed to resonate with Paia Studio’s character. The performance will draw inspiration from the site’s history as a communal gathering place, reflecting on themes of transformation, memory, and renewal.
